BAMENDA LENTEN PROJECT 1997

For some time I had been gently wondering to myself why we had never heard from Cameroon about our project last year to help the completion of St. Mark's Church, Baba 1. Well, now the mystery is cleared up. They did indeed write, but the letter went astray in transit. However, it has now turned up. Father Christopher Udeani, Parish Priest of St. Peter and Paul, Ndop, which covers Baba I, wrote to us on May 28, 1997 and says:

"I write to acknowledge the receipt of the sum of £2635.65 given to Baba I for the completion of St. Mark's Church. I said Mass there on May 25. During my homily, I announced to the congregation your generous donation. You need to have been there to hear the interminable ovation that greeted the announcement. Even after Mass people were deep in celebration. Father David Okeke (the Priest-in-Charge) will be sending an account of the expenses as time goes on. We will always remember you in our Masses here. "

Our contribution paid for benches, flooring, plastering, half the ceiling, and the windows.
