April 24th. St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen.

Named after the town of his birth (1577), he was a Doctor of Law and Philosophy and served as a private tutor before joining the Capuchins (the reformed branch of the Franciscans). He was a celebrated preacher and administrator, serving as superior to several houses of the Order, and at the same time was noted for his assiduous care of the sick. While preaching in the country districts of Switzerland, in an effort to bring about a reunion with Rome, he was murdered by villagers at Seewis in 1622. He was canonised in 1746.
