SACRED HEART PARISH
Waterlooville
| SAINT for the WEEK. January 3rd. St. Genevieve. Genevieve is the patron of the city of Paris. Her life of prayer in the 5th. century was an inspiration to the citizens of Paris when they were under threat of siege, first from the Franks and then from the Huns under Attila. The Parisian church where her body was enshrined was dilapidated by the 18th. century but was replaced just in time for the French Revolution, when it was turned over to secular use and in due course became a Pantheon, where many of the high and mighty of France are buried; the Pantheon still contains frescoes depicting her life. |
