Waterlooville
| A SAINT for the WEEK
March 26 St. Liudger or Ludger, bishop of Munster in Germany (died 809), another associate of St. Boniface in the evangelisation of the Low Countries. Much of his pioneer work was destroyed by Saxon raiders in 784, but he persevered in a restoration of the faith and was consecrated bishop of Munster in 804. Among his achievements was that of being denounced to the Emperor Charlemagne for spending more on almsgiving than on the decoration of churches. |
