Denmead Little Show
Regretably due to personal circumstances there was no official
photographer at the little show, we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
NEW FOR 2011 DENMEAD SHOW
SEASON!! After reviewing the 2010 season and taking into account any
feedback received we have made the following changes:
1. Denmead
Little Show – 26 June – remains substantially the same
2. The Main
Denmead Horse Show has moved forward in time to the middle of August – 14
August – in an effort to avoid clashes with the CHAPS championship, Royal
London and Dorchester shows. We intend to retain the IMHPS affiliated
classes and also to run affiliated classes for the Veteran Horse Society and
CHAPS. The jumping classes have also had an overhaul and we hope will
provide a better spread of classes for those who also want to do Working
Hunter and showing classes with standard open classes in the morning and
more interesting variations throughout the heights in the afternoon ie a
2’3” Accumulator, 2’9” Power & Speed and a Puissance. Weather and ground
conditions permitting the Jumping Ring should also be moving to the site of
the Main Arena of the last few years. Hopefully the clear round should also
be available for longer
3. Denmead Fun Event & Show. This is the show
that has had the greatest revamp and will be moving to the time slot of our
original main show – 4 September so that we still have a show for The End of
the Holidays! After the bitter weather at the end of last September and
after talking to a number of competitors who were freezing their proverbials
off we decided that to try and speed things up a bit and avoid hanging
around between the different phases of an ODE we would try Express Eventing.
For those unfamiliar with it Express Eventing moves straight on from one
phase to the other. The dressage arena is to one end of the area but the
show jumping phase is central to the cross country area which takes up one
field plus a little bit (to allow us to use the permanent jumps in the
hedgeline). The box lies between the dressage area and the jumping areas and
competitors move through the box (making any changes to tack / clothing)
between each phase. The number of cross country fences will be reduced to 16
to allow for the more limited area but the amount of fun should increased
and it will certainly be a better spectator sport as they can see almost
everything from the sitting area.
With the Cross Country and show
jumping taking up less space there will be room to include a second showing
ring and to be able to dedicate one ring to ridden showing and one to in
hand showing. We will also be able to put in a small run ring which will
have clear round jumping in the morning – enabling people to use it as a
warm up round, a few games as lunch time and children’s showing in the
afternoon.
We hope this will address the various comments made to us
over the last season and provide the maximum amount of fun for everyone.

News From 2008
We regret to announce that due to the recent heavy rainfall and the continuing heavy rainfall forecast we have to CANCEL the Denmead Fun Event and Show.
We would like to thank all those who attended the Little Show and the August Denmead Horse Show despite the wet ground and bad weather.
We hope to see you all next year.
We are trying a new system to improve efficiency in the secretary's tent this year. Would all late entries please ensure you follow the NEW system.
- Register each person on a separate WHITE form - giving details of address, telephone number and email. The form has room for up to 3 horses per person.
- This form is used to issue you your number(s) and includes your first aid payment.
- For your classes - fill out the correct coloured slip with your number and the required classes. This will help to ensure that your entry ends up with the correct ring stewards.
- If when you wish to top up with extra classes then just put your number and the class on the correct coloured slip and hand it to the relevant late entry secretary.
2008 Little Show : Ridden classes = Pink, In hand classes = blue and Jumping classes = green.
Thank you
